This course is designed for students who have completed a combined degree in architecture (accredited) and construction management. You’ll get a specialist education that builds upon an established background in architecture and built environment studies. You’ll develop your skills and knowledge in architectural design research, urban ecologies and other aspects expected in modern architectural professional practice. You’ll also undertake advanced studies in cultural, technological, design, environmental and theoretical knowledge. Plus, you’ll study the ethical, evaluative and research frameworks which underpin the architecture field. Deakin’s Master of Architecture (Design Management) is professionally accredited within Australia by the Australian Institute of Architects, the Architects Registration Board of Victoria and the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia. This lets you achieve your professional registration, taking your career one step further. Units in the course may include assessment hurdle requirements. Course structure To complete the Master of Architecture (Design Management), students must attain 12 credit points. Most students choose to study 4 credit points per trimester, and would have the opportunity to undertake three trimesters in one single year. The course comprises a total of 12 credit points, which must include the following: 7 core units (including two core units of 2 credit points each) 3 course elective units Completion of SRA710 Safety Induction Program (0-credit-point compulsory unit) Completion of STP050 Academic Integrity (0-credit-point compulsory unit) Graduate outcomes Career outcomes Graduates from the architecture course may be sought after by private architectural practice firms, government organisations and private companies in property development, building and design. Graduates will be required to complete an additional two years of work experience under the supervision of a registered architect in order to present for registration with the Architects Registration Board of Victoria and the Australian Institute of Architects. Alternatively, students who are already practising qualified architects will be able to widen their breadth of study in the field.
