Overview
The Master of Teaching (Primary) builds pre service teacher knowledge and skills to teach across the curriculum. There is an emphasis on researching teacher practice in numeracy and literacy. There is demand in the sector to build efficacy of graduates in the areas of diagnostic learning, special needs, pedagogical expertise and relationship skill building. This course gives you the opportunity to specialize in these areas. The pedagogical structure allows graduates to work and adapt effectively in complex contemporary learning environments. Professional experience is based around inquiry and experiential learning with iterative skill development opportunities linking knowledge, context and experience to understanding the theoretical dimensions needed to understand practice in school and other learning contexts.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Applicants must have an Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or approved international equivalent. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Paper-based Test - Overall score of 575 with 5 or better in TWE (Test of Written English); TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing, Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): Overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Applicants undertaking the Master of Teaching must hold a Bachelor degree or approved equivalent in a relevant discipline area/s for primary or secondary teaching as per the National Program Standards and the Victorian Institute of Teaching. For a primary focus these may include; Science, Mathematics, Arts, Humanities, Languages, Physical Education, etc.
