Overview With the world population rapidly growing, the need for products and technologies that can produce sustainable food sources, create cleaner fuels, reduce our environmental footprint and combat disease also grows. Biotechnology which has been employed for thousands of years in agriculture, food production and medicine utilises cellular and biomolecular processes to develop such products and technologies. This course will equip you with a core competency in advanced molecular biotechnology approaches so that you're primed for a career that is vital to improving our lives and the health of our planet. KEY FEATURES You'll develop knowledge and skills in areas including molecular biology, protein biochemistry, proteomics and applied microbiology. This course has a strong interdisciplinary and practical focus so you're able to build connections between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the biotech industry. You'll learn from experts in chemistry and biomolecular sciences, biological sciences, computing and statistics. You'll advance your skills in critical thinking, experimental design and writing for peer-reviewed scientific literature. If you're a high-performing student, you'll have an opportunity to undertake a supervised research project which will allow you to gain valuable hands-on experience. Career Opportunities PROFESSIONS As an industry, biotechnology is expanding rapidly. This expansion requires a workforce of graduates that have scientific and technical skills, as well as skills in problem solving, teamwork and critical and analytical thinking. Examples of areas where biotechnology is applied include pharmaceutical discovery and production, exploiting biodiversity for new bioactive compounds, exploring alternative energy sources and developing improved crop varieties for sustainable food production. EMPLOYERS Graduates in biotechnology continue on to a diverse range of positions at institutions ranging from small biotechnology companies to large pharmaceutical concerns and universities. Recent graduates have gone on to PhD programs in Australia, the US and Europe, staff positions at local biotechnology companies and pharmaceutical production companies in India and Europe, and research positions in universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution. They should be able to demonstrate research experience in their previous studies. English Language Requirements: TOEFL (paper based) score of 570; Pearson test of English (PTE) academic general score of 64; Cambridge English: advanced (CAE) general score of 58; Occupational English test (OET) score of Grade B or above. 国际学生入学条件 Student must have: • Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent, with two units of chemistry or equivalent • GPA of 4.50 (out of 7.00) IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent; TOEFL iBT 83; PTE Academic 58; CAE 180; CPE 180; OET B.
