The Graduate Diploma in Psychology is for students who have previously completed an accredited three-year sequence in psychology. It offers advanced level study in a selection of specialised areas in psychology.
The course provides graduates with an approved Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) fourth year of training in psychology.
In addition to covering professional issues and ethics, assessment and intervention, and research projects into human behaviour, this graduate diploma also offers electives in advanced topics in:
Applied Psychology
Cognition
Developmental Psychology
Social Psychology
Career paths
The Graduate Diploma in Psychology is recognised by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council as an accredited fourth-year program in Psychology. Students who complete the program will be eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist and associate membership with the Australian Psychological Society.
Pathways to further study
Students who complete a Graduate Diploma in Psychology are eligible to apply for entry to postgraduate courses in psychology, such as the Master of Professional Psychology and Master of Psychology.

Applicants must hold the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor's degree with a pass average. Individual courses may have specific requirements. Other English language Requirements accepted: Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 61 with a minimum of 50 in all four communicative skills; or ACU English Language Test with Grade B (65-74%).

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed, within the last five years, an IELTS score of 7.0 (with no subtest less than 7.0) and a Bachelor degree including:
an accredited three year sequence in Psychology;
with a GPA of at least 5.0 on the ACU seven point scale; and;
credit level or above in a total of four second or third year Psychology units.
Pearson Test of English (PTE): 68 with a minimum of 65 in all four communicative skills; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Academic (TOEFL): Internet based total of 100: minimum 25 writing, speaking, reading and listening; ACU English Language Test: A (75-100%); Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): Overall CAE score of 185 Individual score of 185 in all tests.
