In this program you will gain a comprehensive understanding of social wellbeing, disability care, healthy ageing, and assessment and management of individuals and families. You will explore and examine issues affecting marginalized groups locally, regionally and, nationally. You will learn how to effectively manage a variety of cases and situations within private, government or community organizations. Most importantly, you will learn about the importance of advocacy for individuals living with a disability and the aged community.
The Honours component of this degree involves completing a research project on a topic of choice under the supervision of a staff member.
As a graduate of this program you will possess knowledge and skills in assessment, rehabilitation, case management and organizing services as well as leadership and entrepreneurship. The Honours program can also provide further exposure and industry experience, preparing you for an exciting career in the human services industry.
Career outcomes
Careers can include leadership roles within community and health care organization settings including those that are aligned with the implementation of Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Students must have a recognized previous academic qualification. These qualifications are for standard entry and are based on comparisons with Australian year 12 level examinations. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic only) - 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) - 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) - 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) - 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) - 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE3 - Cambridge English: First (FCE) with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
