Course Description Studying History will help you make sense of our world by understanding how things came to be the way they are today. You’ll explore ideas and theories about human action by looking at the evidence of the past and develop excellent research, analysis and communication skills. Your core units will include subjects such as ‘The Empire Strikes Back: Imperialism and Colonialism in Modern History.’ You can choose electives to specialize in the history of Australia, Europe or Asia with units including ‘Europe Under the Dictators’, ‘The Vietnam Wars’, ‘Spies, Saboteurs and Secret Agents’ and ‘Crime and Punishment Since 1700’. To broaden your knowledge and career prospects even further, you can combine History with other majors including Asian Studies, Philosophy, Global Politics and Policy, Security, Terrorism and Counterterrorism Studies, Religion, English and Creative Writing or Sociology. When you graduate, you’ll have the literary, analytical and communication skills you need for a broad range of careers in both public and private sectors, including roles in foreign affairs, journalism, teaching and the public service.
