This program addresses planning issues that are central to contemporary planning practice. It broadens and deepens your professional understanding of both practical and theoretical responses to planning challenges in areas that include environmental, development, land use, transport, policy and strategic planning. The program is suitable for para-professionals in planning and allied fields.

Applicant must have a bachelor degree with class I honours or class IIA honours (AQF Level 8) or a masters degree (AQF Level 9), incorporating a significant research component of a standard comparable to a bachelor degree with class IIA honours, from an Australian higher education institution or a qualification recognised as equivalent by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR); or a record of research, or a qualification granted by a professional or other body deemed by the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School to be of a standard comparable to a bachelor degree with class IIA honours. English Language Requirements accepted: A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0; an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19); a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL; or no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only);or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): Minimum grade of C on the or a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Minimum grade of C on the or Pearson Test of English (Academic): Overall score of 58 with no score less than 50.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Urban and Environmental Planning, a student must:
hold a Bachelor degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing). Planning related Bachelor degrees will be assessed by the Program Director to determine whether the degree is appropriate for admission
OR have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time relevant work experience.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows: A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0 OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19) OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only) OR a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) OR a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
