This program allows you to choose from over 40 study areas across the humanities, social sciences and languages, giving you the opportunity to study the subjects you love. Combine your Bachelor of Arts with 14 other undergraduate degrees including Law, Engineering, Science or Business, enabling you to complete two degrees in a shorter amount of time. Structure your program into two single majors; or an extended major and a minor; or one single major and two minors. Any major can also be studied as a minor. Sociology / Extended Sociology will teach you how to look at the world in new ways. Sociologists are interested in every aspect of human social life, including how we are shaped by forces like education, socio-economic status, religion, gender, and ethnicity. They critically analyse the causes and consequences of social problems, and provide arguments about possible reasons for inequality – and how to address them. As a student in the Sociology major, you'll study key concepts and perspectives in sociology, along with research methods. Throughout the major, you'll learn how to analyse social problems and issues, and make evidence-based findings about some of the biggest issues of our time. Career outcomes Graduates of the Sociology major typically work in a variety of roles in the public and private sectors, including as policy analysts, researchers, policy advisors, project managers, health services managers, human services consultants, social workers and lobbyists.
