RMIT’s Landscape Architecture is recognized as a world-leading design program.
Internationally acclaimed for producing students who have the ability to “respond to modern challenges in society through critical analysis, innovative design and clever use of space”, RMIT’s Master of Landscape Architecture will equip you to become a leader and innovator in Landscape Architecture practice.
International student visa holders can only study full-time.
Electives and program structure
You'll understand the role and responsibilities of landscape architects at a global level and the precise application of landscape architecture in local situations. You'll be guided by guest designers, scholars and practitioners who'll help you position your work internationally.
Career
This program will prepare you for the professional practice of landscape architecture. Working independently or as part of a large multidisciplinary team, landscape architects find career opportunities in:
The public and private sectors
Government organizations at federal, state and municipal level
The offices of landscape architects, architects, planners, urban designers and engineers throughout Australia
From urban design projects (plazas and pedestrian precincts) to working with large open spaces (parks and nature reserves), the parameters of projects are broad.
Graduates may also become involved in smaller projects such as private gardens, historic estates and productive landscapes.
Pathway options
When you successfully complete the Bachelor of Landscape Architectural Design and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.5, you are guaranteed entry to the Master of Landscape Architecture.
If you achieve below the minimum GPA, you may still apply and will need to submit a folio. You will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Further study
When you successfully complete the Master of Landscape Architecture, you may be eligible for entry into an RMIT Masters by Research or Doctoral (PhD) program.

Applicants must have completed a bachelor degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline awarded with honours. The degree should include a research component comprised of a thesis, other research projects or research methodology courses that constitute at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent). The applicant must have achieved at least a distinction average in the final year; or a master degree that includes a research component comprised of at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent) with an overall distinction average or a master degree without a research component with at least a high distinction average. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (Paper Based Test) score of 580 (TWE* 4.5); TOEFL (Internet Based Test – iBT): Overall score 92 with minimum of 20 in all sections; Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): 58 (no communication band less than 50); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

You must have successfully completed:
The Bachelor of Landscape Architectural Design from RMIT University with a grade point average of 2.5 (out of 4.0) or above.
An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in architecture or landscape architecture or a related design field. You will be selected competitively based on your grades and folio.
English language requirements
To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
TOEFL (Paper Based Test): minimum score of 580 (TWE 4.5)
TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 92 (with minimum of 20 in all sections)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
