The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology (PGDipCDTech) involves formal education, teaching and clinical practice in a course that is either one year full-time or two years part-time. The full-time programme is held at the Faculty of Dentistry in Dunedin, and the part-time programme involves distance based teaching with two clinical teaching blocks of two weeks each per year in Dunedin. The programme, which includes three papers (DTEC 401 Complete Denture Prosthodontics, DTEC 402Partial Denture Prosthodontics, and DTEC 403 Dental Health), is for dental technicians who wish to obtain training in Clinical Dental Technology and is designed to enable graduates to practise clinical procedures safely and restore the dentition using either complete or removable dentures. Dental Technology is a global profession. Throughout the world there is a high demand for skilled dental technicians. In New Zealand and Australia, dental technicians are employed by commercial dental laboratories which provide the bulk of the work for the private dental industry, the defence forces, hospitals and state health dental services. The ratio of employer to employee is approximately 1:3 and many dental technicians ultimately set up business for themselves. There are no barriers to becoming self-employed. Structure of the Programme The programme of study shall comprise the following papers: DTEC 401 Complete Denture Prosthodontics (45 points) DTEC 402 Partial Denture Prosthodontics (45 points) DTEC 403 Dental Health (30 points)

为来自中国的学生设计 Candidates with an honours degree or postgraduate diploma may apply for master’s study by thesis only. In some cases, candidates with a bachelor’s degree may apply for a coursework master’s degree or for master’s study by coursework and thesis. Other English Language Requirements accepted: Paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 587 (TWE 4.5); Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – minimum of 50; APIEL (Advanced Placement International English Language) examination – Grade 4; University of Otago Language Centre Postgraduate English for Otago - Grade C or higher. 国际学生入学条件 Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences) on the advice of the Faculty of Dentistry. Every applicant shall present evidence of ability for advanced level study. IELTS of 7.5 with no band below 7; Internet-based TOEFL Score of 95 with a minimum writing score of 22; Paper-based TOEFL score of 587 (TWE 4.5); Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – Overall score of 176; Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) – Overall score of 176; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic - Overall score of 64 with no communicative skills score below 57; University of Otago Language Centre ‘English for Otago’, English for Postgraduate Academic Purposes (EPAP) - Grade C or higher; University of Auckland English Language Academy (ELA) pathway programmes - Successful completion of the English Pathway for Postgraduate Studies (EPPS) with a B Grade; University of Auckland Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP) - Successful completion of the certificate with a B Grade.
