WHAT IS IT LIKE? Politics is life, and like life, politics is struggle. The study of politics equips you with the concepts, theories, and facts necessary to make sense of that struggle. Politics is about us: how we make decisions in society and who gets what, when, and how. Politics is also concerned with the conflict of ideas and values, not only at the level of the local community or the nation, but also internationally. More specifically, it has to do with who governs and how and why decisions that affect all of us (such as how much students pay to study at a university) are made. Careers Politics has two big things going for it: it is exciting, and it is relevant. Politics is a degree that can lead to a range of careers, including business, diplomacy, finance, journalism, policy analysis, and public service. Requirements The requirements for the Diploma in Arts endorsed in Politics are: Pass both 230.111 Tū Kupu: Writing and Inquiry 230.112 Tū Arohae: Critical Thinking Pass 75 credits in Politics (including 200.161; at least one of 200.215 or 200.261) consisting of: at least 45 credits at 200- and 300-level in Politics 15 credits at any level in Politics The remaining 30 credits for the Diploma in Arts can be from Part II of the schedule for the Bachelor of Arts degree (including further courses from the endorsement subject) and/or courses offered in other undergraduate degrees.
