The MA Translation Studies programme at the University of Nottingham is designed both for professional translators and interpreters wish to obtain a formal qualification, and for language graduates wishing to become translators or undertake further research studies. This course offers two pathways: Translation Studies and Translation Studies (with Interpreting). The MA is structured around core modules taught in the autumn and spring semesters. The remaining time (summer) is allocated to the preparation and submission of a Targeted Translation Project for submission by the end of September. If appropriate arrangements are made, the project may take the form of a practical exercise undertaken during a placement with a public body or charity. Many of our postgraduates have taken up academic posts in higher education institutions in the UK and abroad. Others have embarked upon careers in curriculum design, interpreting and translation, publishing and research.
