The Social Science Foundation Year provides you with a chance to sample social science subjects at university level before making a final choice of honours courses, to study intensive modules which provide the requisite background for specific honours courses for those without the necessary qualifications, provides access for non-traditionally qualified students to a wide range of social science courses, and provides a broad grounding in academic principles and methods. Keele is a leading UK law school offering interdisciplinary qualifying law degrees. Commercial awareness is a key attribute for any graduate aspiring to work in the legal and related services sectors. This innovative pathway enables students to study all the law modules needed for an LLB alongside a bespoke route in business which will provide a secure grounding in the intellectual traditions and perspectives that underpin business as a distinctive discipline. You will learn the key principles and doctrines underlying English, European and International law and develop an understanding of its social, political, historical and comparative contexts. Practical experience could be developed by participating in mooting (practising oral arguments), client interviewing, and working as a Community Legal Companion as part of our innovative CLOCK programme. You will develop a well-informed approach to problem solving which will be invaluable to a career in law or business. This programme is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board and is a qualifying law degree, offering the professional exemptions you need to train to practise as a solicitor or barrister, but with an enhanced understanding of commercial and business needs. It will also open up a wide range of other possible careers, especially in business and finance.
