This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too.Our degree programme in Education and History appeals to students who have a passion for studying' how people learn about the way humans have tried to organise their lives – physically and conceptually, individually and together.You will consider education’s relationship to society and culture, looking at its historical development, its impact on people’s life chances and identities, the organisation of education, and how learners learn. At Keele, we place education in a contemporary and even future-focused context, exploring the ways in which the world of education is changing. At the same time, History courses will also encourage you to reflect on the way in which the past conditions the present and shapes the future.You will learn the skills of the historian as you deepen you understanding of eras, continents and cultures from political, social and religious perspectives. There are opportunities to bring together the two subjects in this combined degree programme. For example, students might take a teaching placement or develop a final year project on history and education. Expert tutors will give you an excellent grounding in the subject and help you to develop approaches to education and to the historical topics that interest you.This course will open up a range of opportunities in education, the social services, in health, or in local or central government, journalism, management, and the civil service, for example.
