The International Foundation Programme (IFP) has been specifically designed to prepare international students for academic study on a wide range of our undergraduate degree programmes. The International Foundation Programme offers a guaranteed place on an undergraduate degree programme at Kent upon successful completion. The programme provides a series of academic content modules in addition to modules in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Academic Skills. If they pass the International Foundation Programme and meet the rules of progression, they will have all the qualifications that they need in order to continue their studies at degree level. As the International Foundation Programme contains its own language training module, you will not need to take an additional English language examination such as IELTS or TOEFL. The International Foundation Programme takes place at the University of Kent, and students are full members of the University with access to University accommodation and all academic, welfare, social and sport facilities on campus.

For entry to a Kent undergraduate degree programme, Chinese students typically need to have completed – the first year of a Bachelor degree (Xueshi) with an average grade of at least 75% or equivalent from a 211 university, or 80% from other recognised institutions. Students from China with a wide variety of qualifications and experiences will be considered. Some departments may have slightly different entry criteria.
