The BSc Physical Earth Science degree scheme combines physical geography with physical aspects of geology, and will suit you if you have an interest in physical aspects of the Earth. Students take modules in physical geography and geology in Year One. In Years Two and Three, students study compulsory modules (research methods, approaches to geography, field course, dissertation) that focus on physical geography. They undertake additional geological fieldwork and a module investigating the geological record of environmental change. In Year Three, students undertake a dissertation and a research frontiers essay or work placement with a geological theme. Optional modules in Years Two and Three are chosen from those covering physical geography. Fieldwork is an important part of our teaching on the BSc Geography course, including an overseas field course in level two as well as fieldwork closer to home at all levels. Swansea have been successfully training Geography graduates since the 1930s. We are one of the most well established Geography departments in the UK and, with over 30 academic staff, we are amongst the largest.
