Dundee's adult nursing course prepares you to care for individuals with a range of health conditions. Nursing care can take place in the community, home, hospitals and in nursing homes. You will gain experience in all these areas while on placement. As an adult nurse you will learn how to provide compassionate care to adults with both acute and long-term illnesses. Nurses work as part of a team alongside doctors, therapists, pharmacists and healthcare assistants. You will undertake inter-professional learning as part of our course. Assessment is split equally between assessment of theory and assessment of practice. This approach reflects the Nursing and Midwifery Council's requirement that 50% of the programme is undertaken in practice. Students must achieve the required standard in both theoretical and practice assessment. Qualified nurses can work in a diverse range of environments and develop their careers in clinical practice, education, research, management and education. Nurses can work in hospital settings or in the community either with the NHS or in the Independent sector.
