The MSc in Management is designed to deliver a broad management education. It is suitable for students without a business or management background but who are looking to do a Masters in Management to enhance their practical and theoretical skills in relation to management problems and issues in the workplace. It is also relevant for students seeking to improve their employability in middle and senior management positions. The degree is composed of a set of compulsory modules from Finance and Accounting, Marketing in an International Environment, Strategic Management and Organisational Behaviour. A distinctive element of the programme is the scope of management education which will integrate rigorous academic theory with practical skills. Another unique element of this course is the Continued Professional Development (CPD) module which is non-assessed but runs through the programme to provide students with professional skills and networking opportunities within different industries and sectors. The CPD module will be delivered by diverse group of professionals and practitioners from banking, media, public relations, government departments as well as the third sector and private organisations. The CPD module is designed to enhance communication, negotiation, decision-making skills along with analytical and creative thinking and will emphasise continued professional development which will enhance employability in the market place. The compulsory modules in the programme will focus on the issues and challenges which managers and organisations face in an increasingly connected global economy ranging from managing change in a volatile environment to corporate social responsibility. The delivery and assessment modes will be varied. These will include collaborative learning as well as a mix of assessments including coursework, presentations, independent research, group projects and examinations. All students will be assigned an academic advisor who will be able to advise students on academic-related matters. Teaching for all modules includes a combination of lectures, seminars and interaction with the Virtual Learning Environment. A wide range of assessment techniques are used, including coursework examinations and a dissertation.
