This stream of the LLM in Law is ideal if you are looking for a career in the globalised economy and seeking opportunities in the highly competitive area of international markets and the commercial world. This specialism of the LLM in Law will equip you with the advanced legal skills and knowledge needed in the complex and rapidly changing field of international commercial law.
Our LLM in Law (Specialism in International Commercial Law) offers an impressive range of specialist topics and allows you to choose to follow a path of study to suit your specialisms and needs. You will choose eight modules from our comprehensive list. You can select from a range of subjects dealing with international trade and finance, corporate law banking law, competition law, intellectual property and the world trading system. In order to gain the specialism in International Commercial Law, you will need to select 90 credits from modules within this stream and complete your dissertation on a topic within international commercial law. This gives you the freedom and flexibility to explore other subject areas that interest you.
The course will equip you with advanced legal study and research skills and our seminar-based teaching will ensure you have the opportunity to develop your verbal and written presentation skills, which will further enhance your professional prospects.

Students who have completed a four-year Bachelor's degree in China, may be considered for entry to a Master's degree at Leicester. Students must have graduated from a 'top 200' university in China, they may be asked for 70% overall if they are applying for an Engineering or Science degree, or 75% for an Arts, Humanities, Law or Social Science degree. They may need to have scores of at least 80% in modules that are particularly relevant to your chosen Master’s degree. The School of Museum Studies requires at least 80% overall. If students graduated from a Chinese university ranked below the top 200 they may require higher scores (80-85%). If students have completed a three-year college diploma from a Chinese university, they will need to take an accepted one-year Pre-Masters course or upgrade their diploma to a Bachelor’s degree before applying for a Master’s degree.

Students should have IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with 6.0 in writing and nothing less than 5.5. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability.
